Kaps acquires the Bama brand rights for Europe and Asia

“We are delighted to have acquired the Bama brand rights, as the branded products are a perfect fit with our company’s philosophy and our customers place great value on high-quality products. We see the acquisition of the brand rights as a sensible expansion of our product portfolio,” says Andrzej Aleksandrowicz, founder and CEO of Kaps.

Both companies, Ganka and Kaps, now want to further develop the brands from the Bama portfolio. Each company will distribute the brands in the markets where its respective distribution network is strongest. Ganka is active in America, Kaps in Europe and Asia.

Founded in 1994 and based in Rzezawa, near Krakow, Kaps manufactures shoe insoles, shoelaces, shoe care and care and maintenance products for the outdoor and cycling industry and sells them in the European Union. In addition to the main brand “Kaps”, the company also manufactures and sells the brands Mountval, Worker Walker, Lettro and Bike on Wax worldwide.

The Ganka Group was founded in 1935 and specializes in the manufacture and distribution of outdoor clothing for sports and leisure, including the hunting and fishing segment, but also the commercial sector. According to the company, the range includes more than 3,000 different products, which are sold through more than 3,600 customers and retailers.

At the beginning of August, the Ganka Group took over the trademark rights for Bama, Tana and Woly from Bama. The company had slipped into insolvency twice in recent years. First, in November 2022, Bama announced that it wanted to restructure itself under self-administration. A short time later, the Hamburg-based investment company MKCP took over all of the shares. A second insolvency occurred in May 2024. After that, Bama had to cease business operations: Despite intensive efforts, no investor could be found, the insolvency administrator announced at the time.
