Microsoft Corporation (India) Private Limited, the Indian unit of the world’s leading software firm Microsoft, has bought 16.4 acres of land in Hinjewadi, an existing suburb in the western part of Pune. According to documents received by Square Yards, an amount of Rs 520 crore has been paid for this transaction. The documents show that the land has been sold by Indo Global Infotech City LLP.
This is Microsoft India’s second big land deal in Pune. Earlier, the company had bought a 25-acre plot here for Rs 328 crore. The company bought this plot in Pune’s Pimpri-Chinchwad Satellite City area in 2022. Microsoft bought the piece of land from Finolex Industries. The company is building a data center on this plot.
Moneycontrol has contacted Microsoft for comment on this matter and asked what the company will do with the land purchased in Hinjewadi. However, there has been no response from Microsoft so far. Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park is located in the Hinjewadi area, which is considered Pune’s IT services hub and global capability center. Many technology and manufacturing companies are present here.
Microsoft bought a 48-acre plot in Hyderabad earlier this year for Rs 267 crore. The company intends to expand its data center on this land. Along with Google and Amazon, Microsoft will play an important role in localizing data as a data ‘hyperscaler’. Apart from operational and planned data centers, Microsoft has approximately 23,000 people working in development centers in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Noida.
