Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal surprised everyone on Sunday by announcing that he will resign from the post of Chief Minister in the next two days. He also said that he will demand early elections in Delhi. He said that he will not sit on the Chief Minister’s chair until the people give him a ‘certificate of honesty’. Kejriwal, who was released on bail from Tihar Jail on Friday in the alleged corruption case related to the excise policy, said, “I will sit on the Chief Minister’s chair only when people give me a certificate of honesty. I want to give a fire test after coming out of jail.” He said, “I will become the Chief Minister and Sisodia will become the Deputy Chief Minister only when people say that we are honest.”
Ever since Kejriwal’s announcement, speculations have started as to who will take over his position now? There are many names in this list, but at the top is his wife Sunita Kejriwal, who has entered active politics since the AAP chief went to jail.
Although Arvind Kejriwal has made it clear that the name of the next CM will be chosen in the legislative party meeting. He did not name anyone, but also said that the next Chief Minister will be from the ‘Aam Aadmi Party’.
Now many political experts believe that Kejriwal has said that the new Chief Minister will be from AAP, but he neither said that there will be a CM from the current MLAs nor did he name anyone, so in this case Sunita Kejriwal is also in the race.

There is a lot of discussion about Sunita Kejriwal’s name because after Arvind Kejriwal went to jail, Sunita became very active in politics. Addressing every platform, reading Kejriwal’s letters to the public from jail, addressing election meetings and campaigning, all this made Sunita a big face of AAP, especially in Kejriwal’s absence.
Secondly, Kejriwal’s most trusted man Manish Sisodia has also announced to go to ‘Janta Ki Adalat’, so it is clear that only someone as trustworthy as Sisodia can take his place and that face cannot be better than Kejriwal’s wife and somewhere the party leaders have also accepted her.
Difficulties in the way of Sunita Kejriwal becoming CM
The biggest problem is that Sunita Kejriwal is neither an MLA nor a minister. Secondly, Kejriwal does not want to give another new issue to BJP by making his wife sit on the CM chair.
Because if he does so, the BJP will not refrain from accusing him of ‘nepotism’, that too at a time when assembly elections are due to be held in the capital in a few months.
Already BJP is claiming that Kejriwal is resigning to make his wife the Chief Minister. BJP said he should have resigned long ago. The party asked why he is taking two days and why he is not resigning today itself.

BJP national secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa claimed that Kejriwal is not doing any favour to the people of Delhi by resigning but in fact he is trying to make his wife Sunita Kejriwal the new chief minister.
Citing media, BJP has claimed that Supreme Court indirectly acknowledged Kejriwal’s corruption and forced him to resign.
He said, “CM Arvind Kejriwal has asked for two days to resign. In these two days, he will convince the MLAs to make his wife Sunita Kejriwal the next Chief Minister.”
