PM Modi US Visit: Modi-Modi will echo again in America, preparations are on for a grand welcome of the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for a 3-day US visit on Saturday morning. Preparations are on to welcome PM Modi in the US. The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York is being prepared for the ‘Modi and US’ program. About 14,000 people are expected to attend this big and spectacular Pravasi program to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.

Organisers say ‘Modi & US’ is a celebration of Indian culture spreading across the world, including in India and the US. Giving an exclusive glimpse inside the venue, event organiser Jagdish Sehwani told CNN-News18, “A cultural ethos that sees the world as one family, considers diversity a strength, and considers the well-being of all people and the planet as an inspiration to build a better world together.”

How are the preparations being made to welcome PM Modi?
A total of 13,200 people will represent India’s religious, linguistic and cultural diversity in this program. Along with this, more than 500 welcome partners, 500 artists, 350 volunteers, more than 150 media professionals, more than 85 media outlets and representatives from more than 40 US states will participate in it. Another major organizer Suhag Shukla says that ‘Echoes of India: A Journey of Art and Tradition’ will be showcased in this program.

Shukla told CNN-News18, “Modi & US will present cultural programs on two stages – the main stage and the outdoor stage. The main stage will feature a cultural program called Echoes of India – A Journey Through Art and Tradition, in which 382 nationally and internationally renowned artists will participate. These include Grammy Award nominee Chandrika Tandon, Star Voice of India winner and superstar Aishwarya Majumdar, Instagram’s dancing dad Ricky Pond and Rex D’Souza, who will provide a seamless experience of India’s cultural diversity.”

On the outdoor stage, 117 artists will perform, entertaining attendees as they enter the Coliseum. More than 30 classical, folk, modern and fusion performances will pay tribute to India’s rich and diverse cultures.

Dominance of Indians in America
The number of Indian immigrants in the US is more than 51 lakh, 70 percent of whom have a bachelor’s degree or higher. This is much higher than the US national average of 36 percent. Despite being just 1.5 percent of the total US population, people of Indian origin contribute 5-6 percent to US taxes.

Here, more than 150 Americans of Indian origin are posted on senior posts in government agencies. Indian-American families contributed more than one and a half billion dollars to American philanthropy in 2023. Here Indian films earned more than $340 million in North America from 2015 to 2023, with 96 films crossing the $1 million mark.
