Shein: Adidas and Puma fight back against sales

Until now, the Chinese cheap fashion platforms Shein, Temu and Alibaba only sold no-name products. Due to their ultra-fast fashion practices, these companies have been criticized for their environmentally and health-endangering products. Now, the online retailer Shein is facing another problem: Products from Shein and Adidas have found their way onto the digital shelves, but without the brands’ approval.

Both sporting goods manufacturers from Herzogenaurach consider the sale to be inadmissible, reports Wirtschaftswoche. Puma is even considering legal action against Shein.

“Adidas itself does not sell any products on the platform and does not allow the resale of products on the platform,” a company spokesperson told the news medium. Shoes from the brand, which sell for 120 euros in the online shop, are sold by Shein under a false name for around 62 euros.

Puma products, however, cannot yet be found in the German Shein store; however, if the European shop is served, the company’s shoes can also be found there. A Puma spokeswoman responded to Wirtschaftswoche: “We have already taken action against unlawful offers, such as counterfeits or unauthorized parallel imports, on Shein. In these cases, we have taken measures to prevent sales. If marketplaces or platforms do not cooperate and voluntarily remove unlawful offers, we reserve the right to take further legal action.”
