Former Karstadt boss Fanderl is moving to the financial sector

As Handelsblatt reports, Stephan Fanderl will take up his new position at Euro Delkredere on October 1st. It should therefore also open up new sectors for the company, including the construction and real estate sectors.
Euro Delkredere secures cooperation between suppliers and dealers and protects companies in the event of their customers defaulting on payments.

After Galeria filed for bankruptcy for the first time in 2020, Euro Delkredere secured the claims of numerous suppliers and was therefore one of the department store group’s major creditors. At this point in time, Fanderl was officially still CEO of Galeria, but had already been released in 2019.

His trading expertise is highlighted as an important background at Euro Delkredere. The Handelsblatt quotes the founder of the trade credit insurer, Horst Meißel, as saying: “He will open up new growth prospects for our company.”

Fanderl studied economics in Cologne and Regensburg and international business in Tokyo. He started his career at Metro Group in 1997. From there he moved to the board of Rewe. This was followed by five years as Managing Director at Signa Retail. From 2014 to 2020, Fanderl was CEO at Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof, and from September 2021 to September 2020 he was managing director at P&C Düsseldorf.
