P&C moves to the ECE Center Limbecker Platz

According to the center operator ECE, the fashion chain Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf has signed a long-term rental agreement. It is the first partial leasing of the space in the former Galeria branch (Karstadt) and an important decision for the future of the center, from which Essen city center should also benefit sustainably.

The 6,400 square meter area extends over two floors. Peek & Cloppenburg wants to implement its latest shopfitting concept there. The plans call for renovation work on the area to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024; the P&C branch is expected to open in spring 2026. According to their own statements, Union Investment is investing around 30 million euros in the renovation work through its open real estate fund UniImmo Europa and the ECE/Otto family as owners.
According to the “Immobilienzeitung”, P&C wants to leave its current location on Kettwiger Straße, a few minutes’ walk from the ECE Center.

ECE reports that there are already promising discussions with prospective tenants from various sectors for the other areas previously occupied by Galeria in Limbecker Platz. The total area of around 19,000 square meters is to be divided into five to six sub-areas and rented to several concepts. Recently, Limbecker Platz has already been able to attract several other concepts as tenants, including the Inditex concepts Bershka, Pull&Bear and Zara. Further openings are planned by the end of 2024. Sales and frequencies also developed positively and were consistently above pre-Corona levels.
