These stomach cells and pancreatic cells are similar and nearby during fetal development. Their appearance is also quite similar. In such a situation, gastric stem cells can be easily converted into beta-like insulin producing cells.
This success can prove to be a milestone in the treatment of diabetes. With this, the patient can be relieved from taking insulin through injection.
