The impetus for the initiative was a request to the Lambertz shoe store: The Friedensdorf needed 60 pairs of shoes for children who were temporarily in Germany for treatment. The project was quickly coordinated in a Whatsapp group of the Rexor purchasing group. Retailers from all over Germany followed Schuhhaus Lambertz’s call and donated shoes, so that the Peace Village was ultimately able to provide more than 80 pairs of shoes.
The Peace Village has been helping injured and sick children from war and crisis areas since 1967. They receive medical treatment in Europe before returning home.
The Lambertz shoe store was founded in Sterkrade in 1918 and is now run by the fifth generation.
