Gifts, romance and behind closed doors… How Kamala Harris’s ‘friend’ played dirty games with the daughter of a Chinese officer
New Delhi. An explosive revelation has been made on Tim Walz, partner of Minnesota Governor and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. According to a report, while Walz was working as a teacher in China, he had a secret affair with the daughter of a Chinese Communist Party official, which brought him to the verge of attempting suicide. This report of Daily Mail has come just a week before the final contest between Kamala Harris and former US President Donald Trump on November 5. According to election surveys, there is a close contest between the two for the White House.
This was at a time when Walz was facing criticism after he said he was in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989, in which 500 people were killed. Tim Walz is the Democrat vice-presidential candidate in the US elections. Jenna Wang, 59, the daughter of a Chinese official, said she met the Minnesota governor when he was an English teacher in Foshan, Guangdong province. Wang recalled that she attended a lecture by Walz, then 25, to improve her pronunciation ability. At the same time, Walz came to her and whispered in her ear, “You are very beautiful.”
Wang told the Daily Mail, “Tim was very handsome. I loved his eyes and his big mouth. Later we talked and he complimented my English a lot,” However, the two could not express their love to the world because Wang’s father Bin Hui was a high-ranking official in the ruling Communist Party and did not want Wang to marry a Westerner. Would have given up on building a relationship with a countryman.
‘Dreamed of life in America’
Wang claimed that the vice presidential candidate gave her many gifts and that the two drank tea together, made love and lived their romantic life behind closed doors, listening to George Michael songs. Wang and Walz would take walks in the park and go dancing in the evenings, which led Wang to dream of marriage and life in America. Walz also took weekend trips to Hong Kong and Macau, which were not easy for the Chinese elite class at the time, and brought Wang Western-style luxuries such as blue jeans, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and jewelry. Wang said, “I could never stay overnight because of social norms. “Couples roamed the city like robots.”
“We couldn’t touch or kiss each other in public, and that made it even more exciting when we were finally alone,” Wang told the Daily Mail. We loved each other very much and I wanted to marry him and start a family. When that didn’t happen, I felt very sad and disappointed.”
‘Felt like a prostitute’
Wang said that when Walz returned to Nebraska, America, he wrote letters to her about his life and his teaching career there. Wang, on Walz’s instructions, sent her passport photo and personal information to an address in the United States, thinking he was helping her obtain a visa. Upon Walz’s return to China in 1992, Wang resigned from her teaching career, falsely believing that she was about to start a new life.
However, their relationship began to deteriorate when Walz acted strangely in public during a tour of South China. A heated argument ensued between the two, in which Walz accused her of being more interested in a US passport than marriage. Wang said, “It was very insulting. I told him it would either be both or nothing.”
Eventually both of them broke up. Wang then said that she felt as if she had been treated very badly, as if she were a prostitute. Wang said that she quietly left the hotel and went to the edge of a cliff, where she thought it was better to kill herself than to return to her old life in disgrace. Walz married Gwen Whipple, also a teacher, in 1994.
