Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren resigned from the current government and also staked claim to the Governor to form the new government. After leaving the Raj Bhavan, Jharkhand CM and JMM working president Hemant Soren said, “The swearing-in ceremony of the new government will be held on November 28.” He further said, “Today we (INDIA) have started the process of forming a coalition government. And in the same sequence, we have staked claim to form the government before the Governor. I have also submitted my resignation to him. During this, Congress and RJD in-charges were also present…the swearing-in ceremony will take place on November 28.”
Hemant Soren said, “Today I have submitted my resignation from the present government to the Governor and staked claim for the next government. He has handed me the responsibility of acting Chief Minister.”

Earlier, after the massive victory in Jharkhand Assembly elections, ‘India’ alliance chose Hemant Soren as its leader. After this Hemant Soren met Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, resigned from the post of Chief Minister and staked claim to form the government.
According to news agency PTI, Hemant Soren handed over the letter of support from the alliance partners to Governor Santosh Gangwar. After this, Hemant Soren said that Governor Santosh Gangwar invited us to form the government in Jharkhand, the swearing-in ceremony will be held on 28th November.
Jharkhand assembly election results
In Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance retained power in the assembly elections by registering a landslide victory with 56 seats.
The JMM-led alliance won 56 seats in the 81-member assembly, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had to be content with just 24 seats.
41 seats are required for majority in the state assembly. BJP won 21 seats and emerged as the second largest party in the state.
JMM contested 43 seats and won 34 seats, which is the highest number of seats won by the party so far. Congress won 16 seats, RJD won four and CPI (ML) won two seats.
