Biden approved at end of term
India’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency told Congress in a notification that the proposed equipment sales will enhance India’s ability to deter current and future threats through upgraded anti-submarine warfare capabilities. The Biden administration has approved the sale of major defense equipment to India just weeks before the end of its four-year term. After winning the presidential election on November 5, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025.
India has proposed
The notice shows that India plans to purchase 30 sets of “Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Joint Tactical Radio System” (MIDS-JTRS). The contract for the sale will be primarily with Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems. It is said that the implementation of the agreement will require 20 US government representatives or 25 representatives of companies involved in the agreement to visit India temporarily to provide technical assistance and management oversight.
