The right story and authenticity play a major role for the retailer Sneaxs, for example, with three locations in Kiel and Lübeck. Niels Ewert and Orkan Kur explain that they have not operated an online store with their company for years. “We only sell locally, not online. And the last few years have been really good; We had good regular customer sales.” Meetnbuy was “relatively relaxed” and was a good platform for exchanging ideas and seeing familiar faces. “It’s generally cool to see people with whom you have a lot of contact.” This also applies to the goods: “It’s always good to see everything in real life.” This way you can also get a good idea of what they are the offer and at the same time see “what is interesting.” At HHV Clothing, a sneaker retailer from Berlin, the focus of the trade fair is on fixed appointments with partners with whom the company already works. “We’re not here to discover new things,” says Benedict Ernst. “The trade fair is very effective because we can have many appointments in two days. We also finish writing some of the orders, so the trade fair is very important for us.”
When asked about current fashion developments, Ernst mentions colors like brown or the current low-pro trend. The topic of running is also very important in Berlin. “But it’s difficult to say at the moment because I don’t have the feeling that the brands themselves know that,” Ernst continues. “You see a lot of new things with many brands, not all of which are necessarily popular.” In general, the styles are becoming more diverse, “the brands are diversifying more.”
