Second hand gifts increasingly popular – schuhcourier

According to a current survey by Sellpy and the HDE, second-hand gifts continue to increase in popularity. Around 54% said they had already given away a second-hand item. Last year it was only 51%. A significant increase can be seen among 55 to 65 year olds. There the share rose from 35% to 45%.

The most frequently cited reasons for second-hand gifts are sustainability (52%), lower cost (46%) and the uniqueness of the gifts (35%). Men in particular are of the opinion that the recipient appreciates a second-hand gift more than a new purchase. The most popular gift categories for second-hand purchases are Home & Decor (67%), Accessories (62%), Electronics (58%) and Clothing (51%). The most frequently cited arguments against giving a second-hand gift are the fear that the recipient might be less happy about it (41%) and that it could be misinterpreted as an indication of a limited budget (29%).
