After the closure of the outlet in Wiesbaden, more are already on the horizon: As the Hamburger Abendblatt reports, the bailiff was recently at the door of six Görtz branches in Hamburg. Accordingly, the Hamburg Regional Court has received eviction notices for six branches against the shoe retailer. The companies that own the properties are named as plaintiffs. High rent arrears are said to have accumulated at the locations in recent months.
A bailiff had already had a warehouse in Norderstedt cleared out last week. This was used by Görtz as a central warehouse for a long time; Atlant Logistik GmbH, which according to the Hamburger Abendblatt is part of the Görtz group of companies, is currently set to use the area. Rent demands were also the focus of the eviction; Locks were replaced to secure goods and inventory, and around 40 employees were sent home.
Bolko Kissling, who has owned the shoe company since 2023, explains to schuhkurier: “We give up parts and rent others.” Accordingly, the rental prices would have to be right, which would result in many discussions with landlords. “We have just opened 8 new locations and are operating them with our new lifestyle and lounge concepts.”
The Hamburg shoe chain has been under pressure for months. Suppliers ended the collaboration because the delivered goods were not paid for. Görtz recently faced allegations of failing to meet contractual obligations after taking over several branches in Austria. According to schuhkurier information, the center landlord ECE has also canceled 20 Görtz locations. The Görtz online shop has also been no longer accessible since July.
