As the American magazine WWD has learned from financial circles, Capri Holdings is working with the global financial company Barclays to find buyers for the Versace and Jimmy Choo companies. Neither Barclays nor Capri have responded to inquiries so far. It is unclear whether the brands will be sold separately or together. Barclays would like to receive the first expressions of interest before Christmas. If no direct buyer can be found, an auction process over several rounds would also be possible, speculates the medium Footwear News.
Capri had previously toyed with the idea of outsourcing the business areas. Instead, the focus should be on the Michael Kors brand, which is by far the largest business area. The brand would need a turnaround anyway, according to Footwear News – selling the other two brands could give Capri time and resources to continue that effort.
