On Monday, a shooter opened fire at a Christian school in Madison city of Wisconsin, USA.
Three people including the suspected shooter died in this incident. The other five were injured. Authorities had earlier said five people had been killed, after which the death toll was revised.
A police spokesperson said, “We have just received an update from our command post, at this time five people have died, five have been injured.”
According to officials, children are also among the dead.
What do we know about the shooting?
Madison Police Chief Shawn Barnes said he believed the shooter was a teenager whose body was found after police arrived at the scene.
At least five people were taken to nearby hospitals.
Abundant Life Christian School is a private school serving approximately 400 children from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Officials did not immediately provide any information about the attacker.
School shootings are not uncommon in the U.S., with about 322 incidents this year alone, according to the K-12 School Shooting Database website.
Such shootings often spark intense political debate over gun control, with many blaming the ease of gun access in the US for the high number of school killings.
