Viking launches digital product pass – schuhkurier

Viking is working with software developer Kezzler and RFID provider Trimco to present a Digital Product Passport (DPP) solution. For the 2025 spring/summer collection, the first selected models will be equipped with the digital product passport, which can then be traced at product level using unique QR code labels. The European Union has announced a mandatory digital product passport for 2027, although the exact requirements will not be published until early 2026. In this way, Viking wants to see the digital product passport not just as a regulatory requirement, but as an opportunity to improve data quality, according to the manufacturer. “Testing digital product passports in our footwear and clothing lines using unique QR code labels in the GS1 Digital Link format is changing our understanding of data management and opening up completely new possibilities for customer communication,” explains Elin Carlsen, Head of Sustainability at Viking Outdoor Footwear AS. “Although DPP places new demands on how data is handled in our value chain, it also opens up exciting perspectives for our repair and maintenance strategy. Kezzler and the Trimco Group offer us end-to-end solutions that are perfectly aligned with our DPP goals.” The DPP also enables Viking to establish a direct communication channel to the end customer.
