British police can seize 2.2 million pounds ($2.5 million) from misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, a British court ruled.
Devon and Cornwall Police have classified brothers facing human trafficking and rape charges in Romania as “serial” tax evaders. The funds may have been withdrawn from several frozen accounts in the brothers’ names as well as an unidentified third perpetrator, a woman named Jay in court documents.
Tate and his brothers had failed to pay tax on almost £21 million of profits made between 2014 and 2022 from their online businesses such as War Room, Husters University, Cobra Tate and OnlyFans.
At the center of the case was a suspicious transaction of $12 million from the brothers to an account owned by Jay.
The court watched a video posted online by Tate in which he can be heard saying, “When I lived in England, I refused to pay tax.”
Defense lawyer Martin Evans tried to argue that it was “completely conservative” for people running online businesses to transfer such large sums of money.
Banned from social media, properties confiscated
The case in the UK was a civil trial, which has a lower burden of proof than the criminal proceedings currently pending against the brothers in both Britain and Romania.
Dual British-American citizens Andrew Tate, 37, and his brother, 36, gained millions of followers on social media sites with their offensive “manosphere” content. Following his arrest, he has been banned from TikTok, YouTube and Facebook and most of his assets and bank accounts have been frozen.
