A passenger plane carrying dozens of people crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan on Wednesday, the Kazakhstan Transport Ministry said.
Russian media reported that the plane was operated by Azerbaijan Airlines and was en route from Baku to Grozny in Chechnya, Russia.
Azerbaijani Airlines (AZAL) said the plane made an “emergency landing” near the city of Aktau, promising to provide “additional information about the incident” in a statement on the Telegram app.
The Kazakh Transport Ministry, citing Azerbaijani sources, said the plane was carrying about 62 passengers and five crew members.
According to reports, several survivors of the accident have been admitted to the hospital.
