Major changes in visa process

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock praised the new system, saying the reform was “long overdue”.

“Every year there is a shortage of at least 400,000 skilled workers in Germany,” Baerbock said.

He further added, “At a time like this, long paper application forms and even longer waiting periods cannot prevent the best people from coming here from rolling up their sleeves.”

Baerbock emphasized that Germany, as an immigration country, needs “a national visa process that is state-of-the-art – modern, digital and secure.”
