Nitin Gadkari News: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday (January 2) that the central government will spend Rs 1 lakh crore in the next two years to transform Delhi’s infrastructure. Gadkari said in an interview with news agency ANI on Thursday (January 2) that his ministry and the central government are currently working on several projects and initiatives to reduce congestion on Delhi’s roads and address the problem of pollution. . He said that Delhiites will be free from air pollution in the next five years.
The Union Minister said, “I promise you that work worth Rs 1 lakh crore will be done in the coming two years. This will change the face of entire Delhi. Under the ‘Namami Gange’ scheme, we have some funds to clean the Yamuna. There are plans. We are working to stop sewage water from going into Yamuna. But, since the Delhi government is not paying its share for the projects, some work is still to be done.”
Work continues on projects worth Rs 65,000 crore
The Union Minister said that the Road and Transport Ministry is currently working on a project worth Rs 65,000 crore. Out of this, works worth Rs 33,000 crore have already been completed. Gadkari said that the Road and Transport Ministry will also complete the remaining work worth Rs 32,000 crore in the coming time.
Gadkari said, “The people of Delhi are troubled by traffic jams and pollution. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Road and Transport Ministry started many projects to make Delhi pollution-free and traffic jam-free. Projects worth Rs 65,000 crore. Work worth Rs 33,000 crore has been completed and we will complete projects worth Rs 32,000 crore in the coming year.”
Where are roads being built?
Gadkari said that it is very important to reduce the traffic jam in Delhi. He said the new ring road, UER-II, has been constructed at a cost of Rs 7,716 crore in Delhi and Rs 6,000 crore in Haryana. Its length is 120 kilometers. He also said that the 60 km long 6-lane link road between Delhi-Noida Expressway and Mumbai-Delhi Expressway, costing Rs 7,000 crore. They are currently under construction, but will definitely be completed this year.
Gadkari said the 6.8 km long elevated road passing through the under-construction Okhla Bird Sanctuary will be completed by March. The minister said that a greenfield road will also be built from the new Jewar airport to IGI airport. This road spanning 32 kilometers will have 6 lanes. Its cost will be Rs 3,000 crore.
Gadkari said, “We have given 6 greenfield expressways in Delhi. Of these, EP and Delhi-Meerut Expressway have been completed at a cost of Rs 7,000 crore. Four expressways are still under construction. These include the 8-lane expressway costing Rs 9,000 crore. Dwarka Expressway is also included, which will be ready by June this year.”
How will pollution end?
Gadkari said that the government will try to solve pollution in Delhi. He said, “Our government brought electric buses, cars and scooters, because 40 percent of Delhi’s pollution is due to fossil fuels. We also brought CNG (vehicles)… and we will make Delhi pollution-free in 5 years ” He said that there has been a 20 percent reduction in stubble burning, which is 200 lakh tonnes in Punjab, Haryana and surrounding areas.
The Union Minister said that out of 400 projects, a total of 60 plots have started functioning. He said, “There has been a 20 percent reduction in stubble burning. This is because CNG is now being made from stubble. 400 plants are being set up, of which 60 are already operational. As a result, waste is being converted into wealth.” Then trucks and buses will run on CNG.

The Union Minister further informed that the government has started a project in Panipat, in which 1 lakh liters of ethanol, 150 tonnes of bio-vitamins and 78,000 tonnes of aviation fuel will be produced from stubble. He said that this will help in reducing pollution in Delhi. Also in this way we will save on imports. Will create new employment and also improve the welfare of farmers.
