In July 1946, Ernst Stark came to Nördlingen from Karlsbad with his wife Maria and their two children. In the Bohemian town of Carlsbad, Maria Stark ran a large Bata shoe store, and her husband Ernst was responsible for several branches. After the war, like millions of people, both were left with nothing. In Nördlingen a new life should be built and a new home found. Ernst Stark led the way on the third floor of the CH. Beck’sche has a shoemaker’s workshop in a small room. In October 1950 he opened a small shoe shop at Bergerstrasse 4. From the 1950s he also had a stand at the Nördlinger Whitsun Fair.

In 1960, the Stark family moved their business to its current location at Drehergasse 15, where they found new, larger rooms and were able to specifically expand their offerings. After the renovation in 1980 by daughter Karin Stark, the business was almost completely renovated. There was another extensive renovation in 2019.
