Police in India confirmed media reports of multiple deaths on Monday, saying in a statement that eight officers and a driver died.
The bombing is the latest in a series of sporadic attacks on security forces in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh and follows sustained gunfire between security forces and insurgents.
Chhattisgarh and its neighboring states in central and eastern India have been affected by a decades-long Maoist insurgency. In the last few years, there has been a significant reduction in the areas where extremist groups are active.
