Thousands of Serbians, led by university students, protested outside Serbia’s state television headquarters in the capital Belgrade on Friday, demanding objective reporting.
The students condemned the pro-government bias and defamation campaign against them on the public broadcaster Radio Television Serbia and demanded objective coverage of the protests.
He says state television is reporting President Aleksandar Vucic’s claims that the students were funded by foreign secret services to topple his government.
What else happened in the protests?
Friday’s rally came a day after a driver drove his car into a protesting crowd and injured a student.
The protest is part of wider demonstrations that erupted last November after a roof collapse at a railway station in the northern city of Novi Sad killed 15 people.
Protestors also observed fifteen minutes of silence to pay tribute to the victims. They blame Serbian authorities for the fatal incident.
The protesters are demanding that those responsible for the roof collapse be brought to justice.
Street protests have been taking place daily across the Balkan country since November last year.
The ongoing protests reflect widespread dissatisfaction with the president’s increasingly autocratic rule.
