Former General Mike Milley’s photo removed from Pentagon after Trump takes oath
A portrait of retired Gen. Mike Milley was removed from the Pentagon on Monday, just hours after Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Milley, who served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Presidents Trump and Biden, became a staunch opponent of the businessman-politician, especially as Trump stepped up efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, with Milley calling him Said “Fascist”. Panama rejects Trump’s words on ‘taking back’ canal
Panama has rejected Trump’s pledge to restore the Panama Canal to US control.
“I must categorically reject President Donald Trump’s words,” President Jose Raul Mulino said in a statement published on social media.
“The canal is and will always be Panama’s,” he said.
Trump, who vowed in his inaugural address that the US would “take back” the canal, had claimed that China was working on it. Mulino denied this claim.
“There is no presence of any country in the world that intervenes,” Mulino said.

UN climate chief says ‘door is open’ to Paris accord
UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Still insisted the “door” remains open to the historic 2015 Paris climate accord after Trump rejected it again.
“The door is open to the Paris Agreement, and we welcome constructive participation from any and all countries,” UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Still said in a statement. He emphasized that the clean energy transition is an opportunity for economic growth.
In his inaugural speech, Trump vowed to once again pull the US out of the agreement.
The Republican president already withdrew from the agreement during his first term in 2017. However, former US President Joe Biden returned the US to the agreement during his tenure.

Official President Donald Trump account appears on X
President Donald Trump’s official @POTUS account has now launched on X, formerly known as Twitter.
His bio echoes his inaugural address, reading “America’s Golden Age is just beginning”.
The official website of the White House, Whitehouse.gov, has also now moved to the new Trump administration.
The new White House website details Trump’s “America First” priorities, such as “taking bold action to secure our border and protect American communities.”
The website also includes a biography of Trump, and mentions the “weaponization of the law against him”.

NATO chief Rutte looks forward to ‘peace through strength’
Mark Rutte, the new Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), has welcomed Trump’s return to the White House and congratulated him on his inauguration.
“Together we can achieve peace through strength , Through NATO!” Rutte said, “We will accelerate defense spending and production.”
Trump has called on NATO allies to increase their defense spending, echoing requests made by previous US presidents. Trump to ‘declare national emergency’ at southern border
