The newly appointed President began his first speech as President in this new term by taking a dig at the tenure of his predecessor Biden, without taking the name of the former President.

Trump said that with his inauguration “the Golden Age of America begins”.

He said, “From this day onwards our country will prosper.” “We will be the envy of every nation.”

Trump took the oath of office at the Capitol on Monday and became the 47th President of the United States.

Outgoing US President Biden issued an executive grant of pardon to his family members minutes before Trump was sworn in.

Those pardoned include James Biden, Sarah Biden, Valerie Biden, John T. Owens and Francis Biden.

He said the pardon was due to “imperative attacks” from Trump and allies.

“Unfortunately, I have no reason to believe that these attacks will end,” he said.

Biden also commuted the life sentence of Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier. Peltier was convicted in the 1975 murder of two FBI agents.

According to an incoming White House official, after taking office, Trump will issue several executive orders, one of which would revoke birthright citizenship and another that would recognize only two biological sexes.

Speaking to reporters on Monday ahead of Trump’s inauguration, the official said Trump intended to end birthright citizenship, which gives anyone born in the US the right to claim citizenship. It will also remove the right to claim asylum.

“We are going to end asylum,” the official said, adding that the move “will lead to immediate removal proceedings without the possibility of asylum. We are then going to end birthright citizenship.”

Trump also planned to recognize male and female as the only two biological sexes and end federal diversity programs, the official said, calling them “discriminatory programs.”

“The Department of Finance – this was quite some time ago – included diversity training that said all white people, no matter how conscious they are, contribute to racism. So this type of funding, we end up with these going to do [diversity] Program. “We’re going to end this.”

The policies will almost certainly face legal challenges.
