Police say at least 2 students injured in shooting at Nashville high school

At least two students were injured in a shooting at a Nashville high school on Wednesday, but the situation has been brought under control, police said.

Metro Nashville police spokeswoman April Weatherly could not immediately describe the conditions of those who were shot at Antioch High School, which has about 2,000 students and is located in the Nashville neighborhood about 16 kilometers southeast of downtown.

The shooter is believed to have shot two students before shooting himself; according to Weatherly, they could not immediately say whether the shooter was a student or not.

School officials are asking parents not to drive to the high school to pick up their children. Instead he was asked to go to the nearest hospital. After being released from the school by the police, the students will be taken there by bus.

The FBI in Nashville referred questions to the Metro Nashville Police Department, which is leading the investigation, spokeswoman Elizabeth Clement-Webb said in an email. He said Nashville police had not asked the FBI for help in the investigation as of Wednesday afternoon.

In March 2023, a shooter killed three 9-year-olds and three adults at The Covenant School, a private Christian elementary school in the city.
