The next meeting of Quad is going to be held in India.
QUAD And S. Jaishankar: Donald Trump has come into action immediately after taking oath as the President of America. The Trump administration organized a meeting of the Quad group formed to corner China the very next day after taking oath. After this meeting, Quad member countries India, Japan, Australia and America said in one voice that any unilateral action that tries to forcefully change the status quo in the world will be strongly opposed. China was not named directly in this statement. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted his first multilateral meeting as the top US diplomat with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi.
At the conclusion of the meeting which continued for about an hour, the ministers talked about the Quad Leadership Summit going to be held in India. It is believed that India will host the Quad countries in April this year and US President Donald Trump will attend. A joint statement issued by the Quad countries said that our four nations maintain that international law, economic opportunity, peace, stability and security in all areas, including the maritime domain, are the basis for the development and prosperity of the people of the Indo-Pacific. We strongly oppose any unilateral action that seeks to change the status quo by force or coercion.
Countries refrain from taking name of China
According to the statement, we are committed to strengthening regional maritime, economic and technological security as well as promoting reliable and resilient supply chains in the face of growing threats. We look forward to taking the work of the Quad forward in the coming months and meeting on a regular basis to prepare for the next Quad Leaders Summit hosted by India. The statement said the Quad ministers also reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening a ‘free and open Indo-Pacific’ where the rule of law, democratic values, sovereignty and territorial integrity are upheld and protected. Is performed.
India’s role in Quad
Now the biggest question is whether India agrees with the way Donald Trump takes an aggressive stance towards China. Certainly the relations between India and China are not very good. The border dispute between the two countries is very old. Even today, both the countries have deployed a large number of soldiers on the border and LLC. Despite this, India has its own independent foreign policy. He believes in a multilateral world order. Be it the Ukraine-Russia war or the tense relations between Israel and Iran in the Middle East… India has adopted a balanced stance on all these issues. At present, relations between America and Russia are at their worst. America puts huge pressure on India to end relations with Russia. But, even in such a situation, India demonstrated its independent foreign policy.
As far as Quad is concerned, India’s position does not allow this group to become an aggressive group towards China. India does not want to be a partner of others in pursuing their interests at any cost. Officially, India has never described Quad as a group formed against China. On the other hand, there is a dispute between America and China. Donald Trump wants India’s support in his campaign, but India will have to be cautious. India cannot support any country on its unreasonable demands. Even if that country is America.
Experts on India’s foreign policy and diplomacy understand this very well. India is a developing country. It has to make rapid economic progress to improve the lives of its people. In such a situation, it has to establish one-to-one relations with every country in the world. In such a situation, he would not want to support either side in a dispute between two parties.
