This huge planet was discovered in 2016. There is a large band of strong winds on the equator of this planet, which is like the stripes appearing on the gaseous planets of our solar system. However, the speed of these winds was still mysterious. On January 21, a study associated with it was published in the journal ‘Astronomy and Astrophysics’, in which the wind speed was reported. With the help of a huge telescope (VLT) of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) present in Chile, scientists measured the speed of these winds.

According to NASA, this Neptune is about 18 times faster than the winds in the largest jetstream of the planet, which can reach 1800 km per hour. This is the strongest wind recorded in the solar system.

Researchers determined the structure of the clouds of the WASP-127B by analyzing the light passing through the atmosphere of this planet. This showed that both water vapor and carbon dioxide are present in the moving clouds. However, both these compounds are associated with life on earth. The temperature data collected by the VLT showed that the polar regions of the WASP-127B are cold compared to the rest of the planet and there is a slight difference in the day and night temperatures of the planet. Currently, ground -based telescope like VLT can only measure the speed of the winds of distant planets.
