White House: Lebanon-Israel ceasefire agreement has been extended to 18 February
US officials said on Sunday that an agreement between Lebanon and Israel has been extended to 18 February.
The White House said in a brief statement, “The system under the supervision of the United States between Lebanon and Israel will be effective till February 18, 2025.”
In response, Lebanon confirmed that he would continue to follow the ceasefire agreement with Israel until the agreed date, “was said in a statement in a statement early Monday.
Israel has made it clear in recent times that it has no intention of completing the previous deadline of withdrawing soldiers from the southern Lebanon, saying that Lebanon has not yet fully implemented the conditions.
The tension started growing once again. According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, on Sunday, Israeli forces killed 22 people, including six women returning to their village.
In November last year, Israel and Iran -backed militia Hizbullah agreed to a 60 -day ceasefire, which ended on Sunday.
Hizbullah, who is also a Lebanese political party, has been declared a terrorist organization by the US, Germany and several Sunni Arab states. The European Union lists only the armed branch of Hezbollah as a terrorist group.
