Trump banned ICC for issuing arrest warrant for Netanyahu
US President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order on the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the “baseless” investigation targeting the United States and Israel.
The order stated that the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “misusing his power”, who held talks with Trump at the White House on Tuesday.
After Hamas’s attack against Israel in October 2023, Netanyahu’s arrest warrant stems from Palestinians in Gaza. Hamas is classified as a terrorist organization by the US, Israel and others.
As per the order, the ICC works set “dangerous examples”. ICC officials are banned from entering the United States amid sanctions.
Israel is a “close aide” of Washington, the order said that the ICC used “illegitimate and baseless tasks” before issuing arrest warrants for Netanyahu.
Neither America nor Israel is a member of the Hague-based court or recognizes.
