According to preliminary information from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the number of regular insolvencies in Germany requested rose by 14.1% in January 2025 compared to the previous year of January 2024. This means that the growth rates in the previous year have been in the double -digit range since June 2023, only June 2024 offers an exception with +6.3%.
Destatis also announces final bankruptcy figures for November 2024. The district courts thus reported 1,787 regular insolvencies, which corresponds to an increase of 18.1%. The local courts estimated the claims of the creditors to EUR 2.8 billion, in the previous year the value was 1.5 billion euros. The most common bankruptcies were reported in the economic section of transport and storage, followed by the construction industry and the hospitality industry.
