Public transport strike called for Friday – DW – 02/19/2025

Without the Trade Union Wardi on Wednesday, public transport workers in six German states will go out on Friday, without the announcement of trade union Verdie.

The states of Baden-Vurtemberg, Bremen, Hayes, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hayes and Rhinland-Palletnet are expected to be affected.

Union dialogues are demanding more days for 8% wages and more days for employees.

“The situation is extremely problematic for the employee in the public transport sector,” said Vardi Vice President Christine Behale. “There are very few employees, this charge is stable.”

How many employees are going on strike?

Vardi said the strike was expected to run throughout the day on Friday and would affect 53,000 employees and about 70 municipal transport companies.

The second round of collective bargain ended on Tuesday without a break. On March 14, Potsdam is scheduled to continue dialogue in the city.

At the same time, the public transport worker in other parts of Germany is expected to run from jobs as the results of separate wages disputes. In Berlin, employees of Berlin Transport Company (BVG) want to start a 48 -hour strike from Thursday morning.
