Türkiye imposes fine against Adidas

The advertising supervisory authority of Türkiye criticized the German brand Adidas for its misleading labeling for the shoe model “Samba OG” in the Turkish adidas online shop. According to media reports, the manufacturer is said to have only used the term “real leather” instead of pointing out the pig leather. This inaccuracy is critical, especially in a country that mostly lives Muslim and whose government already declared “not pure” products in 2020. For this reason, the Turkish advertising supervision calls for a fine of over 550,000 Turkish Lira (around 14,400 euros). Since then, the misleading information has been remedied in most cases and the correct material has been specified.
