The new federal government is asked to incorporate the findings and suggestions of the inner -city actors belonging to the Advisory Board in the city center into the political work of the next few years. “Designing the future of our inner cities is one of the central tasks of the future federal government. This must also be reflected in the ministerial structure. Strong city centers need a strong Federal Ministry, ”said Genth.
The dynamic transformation process in the city centers requires bundling resources and responsibilities in a separate Federal Ministry. As a result, legal framework, measures and funding offers could be developed and implemented more precisely. In addition to the independent structure of a Federal Ministry responsible for inner -city matters, from the HDE’s point of view, the city center’s advisory board must also be preserved and further developed as an advisory body. “In the city center, the advisory board has established and proven itself as a platform for exchange in recent years,” said Genth. He produces solutions for the challenges of city centers and gives targeted recommendations to the responsible federal department. “In order to develop guidelines for successful inner city development, all actors involved must be integrated at the federal level at an early stage. The advisory board is indispensable as a comprehensive advisory body, ”emphasizes Genth.
The HDE is in favor of using and developing the inner city strategy developed by the members of the city center as a common working basis. “The inner city strategy contains fundamental goals and measures for inner city development. This can be built on in the future, ”continued Genth. It makes sense, for example, to align the strategic approaches across departments and, in addition to deepening the topics of cleanliness, security, service, digitization, artificial intelligence and mobility, also to include practical examples from the municipalities.
