Uttarakhand avalanche news updates: In Mana village near Badrinath in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand Border Roads Organization (BRO) The bodies of the four laborers missing were recovered on Sunday due to the avalanche on the camp. Due to this, the death toll in the accident increased to eight. Pro Manish Srivastava of the Defense Department said that the body of the last missing laborer has also been found. With that, the rescue operation being run in Mana village ended. Chamoli District Magistrate Dr. Sandeep Tiwari confirmed the recovery of the bodies of the four laborers missing due to avalanche during the search and rescue operation.
The District Magistrate told that 54 laborers were trapped in snow due to avalanche on Friday 28 February. Of these, 46 were safely taken out, while eight others died. According to Tiwari, the four laborers whose bodies have been recovered on Sunday. He has been identified as Anil Kumar (21) from Rudhapur in Udhamsingh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, Ashok (28) of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh, Harmesh Chand (30) of Una in Himachal Pradesh and Arvind (43), resident of Clementhown area of Dehradun.
54 laborers were buried in snow
He said that the bodies of seven dead have been brought to Jyotirmath, where their post -mortem is being done. 54 Majdars of the Border Roads Organization, who were living in eight containers in the BRO camp, were trapped in snow due to an avalanche in the last village Mana, located at a height of about 3,200 meters on the Indo-China border. The number of trapped laborers was earlier said to be 55, but this number remained 54 after a laborer was reported to have reached his house in Kangra in Himachal Pradesh.
Army doctors said that 46 workers who were first taken out have been brought to the Sainik Hospital of Jyotirmath. Of these, a worker suffering from spinal cord injury has been sent to AIIMS Rishikesh for better treatment through an aerial ambulance.
The condition of 3 workers is critical
Lieutenant Colonel DS Maldhya said that the condition of three laborers hospitalized is critical. The Army, India Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Provisional Force (SDRF), Police, District Disaster Management Department had taken out 50 people stuck in snow till Saturday during the search and rescue operations conducted by more than 200 personnel of the Department of Disaster Management, out of which four were killed.
Earlier, the Central Command’s GOC-in-C Lieutenant General Aninday Sengupta and GOC Lieutenant General DG Mishra of North India also reached the avalanche site to monitor the rescue operation. In the search and rescue operation, six helicopters including three helicopters of the Indian Army, two helicopters of the Indian Air Force and a civil helicopter rented by the army were gathered.
Indian Army conducted rescue operations
Army officials on Saturday carried out the rescue operations mostly with the help of army and Air Force helicopters. The way to reach the spot is interrupted by snow in many places. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also reviewed the ongoing rescue operations in Mana. Later Dhami said that the bodies of the workers killed in the accident will be sent to their house. For this, the Chamoli district administration has been instructed to make all kinds of arrangements.

He said that food and other necessary materials are also being arranged for the villages cut by contact. Dhami said that the power system in five blocks had come to a standstill, which has been restored. While efforts are also on to smooth the affected communication system around the scene. The Chief Minister said that from Monday, there has been a possibility of bad weather or avalanche at height places. In view of this, instructions have been given to stop work at places fearing an untoward incident or to be removed from there.
