Stadthof in Hanau celebrates the opening

Exactly two years ago, the closure of the Kaufhof branch in Hanau was announced. Since then, a new concept for the 16,000 square meter area of the building has been considered: the Mixed-Use project Stadthof celebrated its large reopening on March 13. With great crowds and under the motto “Smiley Days – Hanau gives you a smile”, the newcomer in the city center is celebrated with many actions for three days. Mayor Claus Kaminsky was presented to the opening of the symbolic key of the building from 1957. Mayor Dr. Maximilian Bieri, City Councilor Isabelle Hemsley, city councilor Beate Funck and State Secretary Ines Fröhlich from the Hessian Ministry of Economic Affairs drove the red ribbon.

“Hanau does it right: If people’s usage behavior changes, the offers must also be adjusted,” said Klara Geywitz, Federal Minister of Building, who could not be on site in person at short notice. “Many cities and retail are now changing. With the acquisition, conversion and conversion of the former Kaufhof building, a meeting place that combines a lot under one roof is created: from strolling through the shops, getting things of everyday needs to exchange at the Agora and a learning location for the specialists of tomorrow. “

Mayor Claus Kaminsky continued: “The Kaufhof was the first point of contact for many people when it came to errands of all kinds. With the closure of the branch, a vacuum was created, which also felt the surrounding business, services and gastronomies. It was therefore our big and primary goal to reopen the building as soon as possible and not to create any wasteland in the heart of our city center. With the now proven and experienced ´Hanau tempo hardness’ we were able to reach this goal only one year after the property has been acquired. And in a spectacular way. From the outside and from the inside, the Stadthof exudes positive energy and makes you want Hanau. ”
