Semler focuses production in Hungary

The management of the Pirmasens shoe manufacturer has developed a restructuring concept together with the renovation expert Lukas Eisenhuth (Abel and colleagues). This has shown that Carl Semler is without alternative to align the location in Pirmasens and to be able to receive a job in the future, the company announced.
The main pillars of the restructuring concept are the preservation of product development, exemplary production as well as prototype stepping and thus the know-how at the headquarters in Pirmasens. From there, the management and administrative functions will continue to be perceived, so that a total of around 35 jobs will be preserved in Pirmasens in the future. Production, on the other hand, will be concentrated in the company’s own work in Hungary in the future. This is to ensure that the usual quality and delivery capacity will continue to exist. As a result, this means a staff loss of around 25 employees in Germany.
“Both the works council and the management have negotiated the past few weeks in order to make personnel loss as socially acceptable as possible and at the same time to be able to give the remaining employees a future,” explains the company. Now a transfer company is to be formed that gives employees the opportunity to reorient themselves and to further qualify. In addition, employees receive 80% of their salary for seven months as part of the transfer company. This means that they are in a better situation than in the event of a termination -related termination.

This step was not easy, the management said. At the same time, however, these measures create the basis for the Carl Semler Schuhfabrik in the future as a strong business partner in the market.

The response to many regular customers of Carl Semler for the upcoming autumn/winter collection is positive. With their support and the agreed restructuring measures, the company has a good chance of not only surviving this phase in the 162-year history of the company, but also stronger to emerge.
