“Trees for Lippe”-that is the name of the project with which the Wortmann group is involved in the forests of the Lippe State Association since 2021. Over a period of five years, the company provides the state association Lippe a total of 125,000 euros for the acquisition of young trees and their planting. So far, thanks to these sponsorship money, 27.2 hectares with 61,600 trees in the area of the Hermannsdeklang and in the Silberbach valley in Horn-Bad Meinberg have been reforested. This year, Wortmann has expanded the sponsorship contract by another five years and will therefore sponsor an amount of a total of 245,000 euros by 2030.
With the reforestation, malicious and bald areas in the region are to be eliminated. Wortmann is one of the largest sponsors in the project. The motivation for this support explains Wortmann-CEO Jens Beining as follows: “Sustainability is a central part of our corporate values. With our sponsorship for the reforestation of the Teutoburg Forest, we would like to contribute actively to climate protection and preserve nature for future generations. The promotion of 100,000 trees is to make the region of green and livable-and another step towards more responsibility.”
According to Bein, the day of the transfer of the sponsorship rate is the Earth Overhoot Day. This is the day from which the global community has used up all natural resources that the earth can make available within one year. “Every year we focus on the dramatic resource consumption,” explains the CEO.
With the planting of the now fourth area, Wortmann, according to his own statements, has made it possible to reforest a total of 29.2 hectares of forest, which will bind an average of 230 tons of CO2 annually. At the on -site appointment, representatives of Wortmann himself laid a hand and planted the last trees on the area: grape oaks and elsberries.
