Washington. The US Supreme Court has dismissed the petition of Tawwur Rana, accused of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, to ban extradition in India. Tawwur Rana, who is a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin and lived in Chicago, was convicted in 2011 and was later sentenced to 13 years. Currently he is closed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.

166 people died in three -day attacks started on 26 November 2008 in Mumbai. In these attacks, hotels, a train station and a Jewish center were targeted. India says that Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba had planned these attacks. The government of Pakistan has denied joining it.

64-year-old Rana is considered associated with Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley, one of the main conspirators of 26/11 attacks. Headley visited Mumbai before the attack and introduced himself as an employee of Rana’s Immigration Consultancy.

Rana was convicted in a case of conspiracy to support terrorist conspiracy in Denmark in the US and a Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was responsible for the Mumbai attacks. On 27 February, Rana presented the emergency application “during the pending of the case of the Habius Corpus’s petition” to the Supreme Court Associate Justice Elena Kagan and the Circuit Justice of Ninth Circuit. Last month, the judge rejected this application.

Rana then re -presented the emergency application “during the pending of the case of Habius Corpus’s petition and requested that this new application be sent to Chief Justice Roberts. A notice on Monday on the Supreme Court website said, “The court has rejected the application.”

US President Donald Trump said at a press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February this year, “I am happy to announce that my administration has approved a conspirator of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack and a very bad person in the world to extradite a very bad person to face justice in India. So he is going back to India so that he can face justice so that he can face justice.”
