Washington/Moscow. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin told American envoy Steve Witchoff on Friday that Russia is ready to hold peace talks with Ukraine ‘unconditionally’. Kremlin gave this information on Saturday. Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov said, “During the discussion with Trump’s messenger Vitkoff on April 25, Vladimir Putin again said that Russia is ready to resume the conversation with Ukraine without any condition.” He also told that Putin has announced this several times before.
However, this statement matches US President Donald Trump’s disappointment towards Russian President Vladimir Putin. On Saturday, Trump criticized Putin for recent attacks on Ukraine’s civilian areas and said, “Perhaps he doesn’t want to stop war.” After his discussions with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelanski in Rome, Trump also said in a post on Truth Social that “will have to deal with Putin in a different way, perhaps through ‘banking’ or ‘secondary culture’?” Trump said in the post, “In the last few days, Putin had no reason to features missiles on civilian areas, cities and towns.”
US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he suspects that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin wants to end the war in Ukraine. He also raised doubts about the fact that peace agreement could be done soon. A day earlier, Trump said that Ukraine and Russia are ‘very close to the agreement’.
While returning to America after the funeral of Pope Francis, Trump said in a social media post that ‘Putin had no reason to firing missiles in civil areas, cities and towns in the last few days’. Trump wrote that this makes him feel that he (Putin) does not want to stop the war. Trump met Ukraine President Volodimir Jailnsky in Vatican before the Pope’s funeral on Saturday.
