Van den Bosssche had recently shown himself confidently and spoke of the fact that Galeria had completely reorganized. Most recently, the company had announced extensive cooperation with the sports dealer Decathlon. As part of this cooperation, new locations in Galeria department stores are to be opened across Germany from July 2025.
The department store company commented on the departure van den Borsches on April 29: Thank you “Olivier for his tireless efforts even in difficult times,” said the company in a press release. The company’s initial situation is good and the business result has been better since the beginning of the year than in the previous year.
The Belgian Olivier at the Bossche was already CEO of the Kaufhof department store group from 2014 to 2017. In 2022 he came to Galeria as a sales manager and took over the post of CEO in the course of the insolvency proceedings.
Galeria currently still operates 83 department stores and employs 12,000 people.
