The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) has published the expected inflation rate for April. The change in the consumer price index for the previous year month is 2.1%for April 2025. In a direct comparison to the previous month, prices rose by 0.4%. The harmonized inflation rate in accordance with the calculation basis in the euro area has dropped from 2.3% to 2.2%. The goal of the ECB is 2.0%, whereby an increased value is rated as negatively as a lower value. The expected inflation rate for goods is 0.5%. This includes the value for energy (-5.4%) and that for food (2.8%). The inflation rate without food and energy, often also referred to as core inflation, is expected to be 2.9%in April 2025.
