Washington: There has been a panic among America’s intelligence agencies. President Donald Trump has decided to cut a large scale in CIA, NSA and other intelligence agencies. According to a report by ‘Washington Post’, the white house is now in the mood for the intelligence machinery of America. After the Pentagon, it is now the turn of intelligence institutions. According to sources, about 1,200 CIA employees will be trimmed in the next few years. There are plans to abolish thousands of posts from NSA and other agencies. It has been told that many senior CIA officials have already taken voluntary retirement. The remaining trimming will be done through stopping new recruitments and naturally not filling the vacant posts. There will be no need to lay down directly, but this will be a big change in the strength and capacity of the agencies.
At present, Tulsi kept silent silence
The CIA has said in a statement that the agency director John Ratcliffe is taking this step keeping in mind President Trump’s national security priorities. The statement said, “These changes are part of the strategy to give new energy to CIA, to bring forward emerging leadership and complete the mission better.” However, there is a stir in the US Congress on these changes. A spokesperson of National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard has not reacted to this. Gabbard’s office works as a coordination of 18 intelligence agencies. These agencies also include CIA and NSA.
According to internal sources, CIA and NSA have already given some employees to resign voluntary resignation. The special thing is that some of the new employees who were recently appointed have been decided. These changes are to shock the institutional structure, as till now intelligence agencies were considered part of the ‘deep government’ of the US, which were often untouched by the change of power.
The Trump administration has also closed programs like Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in the intelligence system. The court has currently stayed the retrenchment of 19 employees working in these programs, but the administration’s attitude is clear that it is in the mood to uproot the old system.
What change does Trump want?
Recently, the Chief General of NSA and Cyber Command was suddenly dismissed. This step is also important because American intelligence leadership needed stability in the growing phase of cyber threats. But there is currently no place for ‘stability’ in Trump’s plan. CIA Director Ratcliffe has already indicated that he wants to focus the focus of the agency on China. He says that Human Intelligence will be given priority from human sources. That is, there will be emphasis on ground spying out of technical surveillance.
