Earthquake News Today: The strong earthquake in America has shook everyone. Yes, the US state of Southern California has an earthquake of 5.2 magnitude. People were scared due to the earthquake. Stones started falling on the roads in rural areas outside San Diego due to the earthquake. Elephants started running away in zoo. The goods started falling into the shelves and walls. At the moment, there is no news of any damage from this fierce earthquake. However, the officials are busy in assessing the loss.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at 10.08 am on Monday morning. Its center was only 4 kilometers from Julian in San Diego County. Julian is a hilly city of about 1,500 people, known for its Apple Pie shops. It was felt till Los Angeles County, 193 km away. Many tremors also occurred after the earthquake.
Paul Nelson, the owner of a former gold mine operating in Julian in the 1870s, said, “I thought the single-pain windows would shut down because they were moving very loudly, but it did not happen.” He said that some picture frames on the counter at the gift shop in the Eagle Mining Company fell, but there was no harm to the tourists that could be seen. Nelson said that on Sunday, when about two dozen tourists were visiting the closed mine, a small earthquake occurred, but all the people remained calm. When the earthquake occurred on Monday, no one was inside the old mine.
Transport officials warned the motorists to be careful with the rocks falling on the roads and highways. These include the State Route 76 in the northwest of Julian. California Department of Transportation at San Diego County said that employees are assessing roadways for possible losses.
