But Trump has taken things far forward. It was in Ukraine, he is now effectively siding with Russia. In the event of a peace agreement, Ukraine will get back all its areas nor will be able to join NATO. This is good news for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin said last year, “The entire Euro-Alantic security system is falling before our eyes.”
Frederick Merz wants ‘freedom’ from Washington
Some people in Germany are hoping that Trump will return to the old Transatlantic order. Is he realistic? Norbert Freeei suspects: “Currently, it is difficult to say how much will be saved after Trump Presidency – and it is difficult to say if someone can be rebuilt later.”
His advice for the German government? “Ever since the Conraddinoer has introduced an unconditional commitment to the West, Germany has been firmly anchored in Europe. And Germany should now do everything that the European Union can survive without the US, if necessary, if necessary.”
Germany’s new Chancellor Frederick Merz agrees. Soon after the Bundestag election, he said that Europe should develop its security policy independent of America.
