The ruling Peepal Power Party of South Korea chose its official presidential candidate, former Labor Minister Kim Moon-Su-Su, after canceling his candidature on Sunday.
Kim won the party’s primary last week to run as a candidate in the elections scheduled for 3 June.
However, the party tried to cancel his candidature and replace him with former Prime Minister Han Duck-Su.
The party’s leadership believes Han had a better chance than Kim to win the election.
In an unprecedented step, he tried to restore Han as a candidate. Kim condemned it as “overnight political coup”.
PPP members voted against a proposal to switch the presidential candidate from Kim from Han, thus restored Kim as a candidate.
A party spokesman person said that the vote has been passed by a narrow margin.

Han said that he accepted the outcome of the vote and congratulated Kim.
“Now, I am withdrawing from everything and returning to the life of a common citizen,” Han said.

Both are ready to meet at the party headquarters.
Former President Yun Suk Yeol’s expulsion after the expulsion

Han has since served as the caretaker president and resigned on May 2 to pursue his presidential candidature.
