Journalist Istanbul went to cover the protests triggered by Mayor Arrest
The reporter traveled to Türkiye to cover the protest against Istanbul’s Mayor Acrem Imamoglu on March 19.
Imamoglu was re -elected as Istanbul Mayor for the third time last year. The Center-Left CHP party has now nominated him as its candidate for the race despite its custody.
About 1,900 people have been arrested in the protest. Thus the Turkish government has continued its rift on the press amid demonstrations.
Terrorism fee added
Medin was given an 11 -month suspended sentence in an Ankara court to “insult the President”, adding terrorism to the allegations.
Despite suspending the sentence, the Medin had to stay behind bars while waiting for a separate test for “a terrorist organization related”.
Medin denied allegations of participating in the banned Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) in Stockholm in January 2023.
This month PKK announced that he would discover and abolish the armed rebellion against Türkiye.
