‘Silence Anon Callers’ feature to make unknown calls muted
To avoid any type of scam, it is most important that you stay away from phone or message coming from unknown numbers. WhatsApp has a feature to mute calls and messages coming from unknown numbers. Whatsapp has introduced a privacy feature called ‘Silence Anon Colors’. Once active, the calls coming from the numbers not saved in your contact will no longer play on your phone. Instead, that call will appear in your call tab. The unwanted scam calls are disabled from Whatsapp’s Voip (Voice over Internet Protocol) which is not affected by the setting of your phone.
Mute unknown calls on WhatsApp
1. Open Whatsapp on your smartphone.
2. Tap on the setting icon (on the iPhone) or the three-dot menu> setting (on Android).
3. Celebrity> Go on the call.
4. Click on the unknown callers silence. After this, this feature will become active. Then when an unknown number calls you through WhatsApp, your phone will not play, although you can see those calls in your call log.
What to do to avoid scam messages?
The feature of muting the unknown messages like muteing unknown calls is not currently available in WhatsApp. However, you can adopt this method to escape the message in future-
• When you get a suspicious message, tap on the contact, scroll down and click on the block and report option.
• You can set your privacy settings> last scene and online, profile photo and abouts just to show the contact, so that unknown users are less likely to enter the contact.
Although Whatsapp uses machine learning to flag the suspicious account, the user report plays an important role in identifying the new scam. The most important suggestion to avoid any scam is that if any unknown number in which job, money or immediate action is promised, then you need to be careful. Never click on an unknown link. Any OTP and your personal information should not be shared by bank details.
Disclaimer: By activating this feature, the calls coming from the unknown number will be completely blocked. However, you will be able to see them in the call log of the WhatsApp app in Android phones or in the call log of the dialer app in the iPhone.
